    When it comes to employee training, companies generally have two options to choose from: they can hire a trainer to offer face-to-face training, or they can hire an HR services provider to provide online employee training courses. In the increasingly customer-focused business world of the 21st century, it has become imperative to keep your employees trained with the latest knowledge and skills.

    The flexibility of training:

With online training courses, your employees have the option to complete the course at their own pace. However, during traditional face-to-face employee training, the trainer sets the speed, and your employees have to follow it, offering little to no flexibility.

    So, in short, while online training provides flexibility to employees, traditional employee training is more fixed-paced with minimum flexibility.

    Reach:

    When it comes to reaching, online employee training also takes the cake. Suppose you are looking to get training for your employees in a different geographical location, instead of making travel arrangements for your employees to send them to the place, simply get the course delivered via the Internet.

    This higher reach allows you to diversify your employees’ skills by giving them access to knowledge that is not yet available in your area. On the other hand, traditional employee training requires your employees to be present in the same location.

    Teaching methods:

    When your employees are getting online training, the course is designed around the employees’ needs. On top of that, employees are provided with additional material that allows employees to grasp a concept better. On the other hand, traditional employee training involves a trainer who puts together a course and limited support material.

    Regular employee training also has limitations on how much information or explanation the trainer can convey. At the same time, traditional training sessions are also evolving and using eLearning software; however, they are still using the same teaching methods at the end of the day. So, in short, traditional employee training is teacher-centric, and online employee training allows students more control over their learning.

    While both online employee training and traditional employee training have their merits at the end of the day, it all boils down to the topic being taught and other factors. However, online employee training is definitely a great alternative to traditional physical employee training.
