Netgear WiFi Extender Setup Using Netgear Installation Assistant

  • Plug the Netgear Genie WiFi extender into an electrical outlet.
  • Wait for the Power LED on your Netgear Nighthawk X4 EX7300 (AC2200) to light green.
  • If the Power LED on your device does not light, push the Power (On/Off) button once.

Now, connect your device (computer or laptop) to the Netgear WiFi range extender using a wired Ethernet or a WiFi connection:

  1. To connect your device to the range extender using a wired Ethernet connection, use an Ethernet cable/wire to connect the Ethernet port on your Netgear extender to an Ethernet port on your laptop or computer.
  2. To connect with a WiFi connection, on your WiFi-enabled device (computer or laptop), open the WiFi connection manager and connect to the range extender’s default network name, NETGEAR_EXT.
  • Once a secure and reliable connection with your WiFi-enabled device is successfully established, the “Client Link LED” lights up.
  • Launch any web browser of your choice.
  • Enter www.mywifiext.net in the address field of your web browser.
  • Click on the “NEW EXTENDER SETUP” button.
  • Complete the fields on the Netgear Genie smart setup screen and click on the “NEXT” button.
  • Now, verify that the Access Point(AP)/Extender switch is set to “Extender”.
  • Click on the “Continue” button.
  • Select your main networking router’s WiFi network to extend.
  • Click on “NEXT”.
  • Next, what you have to do, in the network key (Password) field, type the network password of your existing WiFi router and click on “NEXT”.
  • Set the SSID (network name)) and password for your Netgear Genie WiFi extender and click on “NEXT”.
  • Now, you can connect your WiFi-enabled device (any) to the new extender WiFi network using the extender’s network name and security key created by you and enjoy the high-speed of the internet in every nook and cranny corner of your house.
  • Prior to clicking on “Continue” make sure that your WiFi-enabled device is successfully connected to the Netgear WiFi range extender.

A message will now display confirming that your WiFi range extender is connected and ready to use.

  • Click on “NEXT”.

Complete all the registration fields carefully and click on “FINISH” to complete the Netgear Nighthawk extender setup process.

Unplug your range extender and place it to a new location. The location you choose must be between your existing WiFi router and the area with a dead zone or blind spot.
