• “Network operation did not complete in a reasonable amount of time”

Possible reason: It usually occurs while migrations from Lotus Notes to another platform like synchronization of account with mobile to access information.

Resolution: On Lotus Notes client, activate manually replicator page or repeat line- sending ongoing mail or similar. Open current location and check for the mail tab. If the location of the mail file is local then change it to on the server. Then check for the ongoing mail field, if it is directly from the internet then change it to through the domino server. 

•  “you are not authorized to the database for user’s local mail file”

Possible reason: This usually happens due to the usage of the incompatible design template. For instance, using an R7 design template with R6 client (like Notes 6.5.6)

Resolution: To fix this issue, simply delete the local mail copy and update the nail file of the server with R6 template of R6 Notes client installed on the system.

• “Your current ID does not specify an Internet certificate for signing.”

Possible reason: If the default settings to sign emails in Lotus notes is by using the public key infrastructure of existing ID. The client can sign messages to the receiver with the public key of the user’s. But sometimes, these keys don’t work when messages are sent through the internet hence results in unavailability of certificates and the above-described error.

Solution: First step to resolve this issue should be to change the default settings of signing emails. And second is to integrate X.509 certificate into the ID. 

•  “Database Corrupt – Cannot Allocate Space.”

Possible reason: This message refers to the problem with the Desktop.dsk file of the Lotus Notes client. It is the simple indication of Lotus Notes database corruption.

Solution: To fix this issue, restoration of NSF database is required. User can try an in-built utility like Fixup in their database. Or simply delete the cache.ndk and rename it to bookmark.nsf. Or the user can try to create a replica of the corrupted database at the operating system-level. Even it can be created by clicking on the file and then database and then new copy in Notes.

• “You can’t use the Administration program while the Domino server is running.”

Possible reason: If the Notes client installs its program files locally on the user’s machine but at the same time uses a file server for data storage then this may lead Lotus Domino to stop in between. Afterwards, if the user tries to open IBM Notes then he may get this error message on their screen.

Solution: To resolve this error, just try the following procedure. Firstly open the Notes.ini file in Notepad (or Wordpad whichever is preferred). Then add string “Directory=” under data of Notes program files in such manner that the result should be Directory=C:\Program File\IBM\Lotus\Notes\Data. Finally, save the changes and restart the Domino server.

• “Entry Not Found in Index.”

Possible reason: The index of the entries is not found in a situation where conflict arises in locally edited policies of the server. Generally, the user encounters this issue when he is configuring a new user

Solution: One can simply fix this problem by creating a clone of the server first. Then make changes in the specified policies of Lotus Notes of names.nsf file.
