The last few years have taught us all a few things, most importantly how to budget and make the most of our money. And with the economy still stagnant, the attitude of ‘make do and mend’ is still very much at the forefront of everyone’s minds. That is why buying items second hand is a popular way to save consumers money and make sellers some much needed extra cash. Online selling can be a great option for everyone to make a bit of money and free up some space in your home and these days there are plenty of old or un-used items that you can sell that you might not have thought sell-able in the past.
Electrical goods
With today’s advancements in technology, many of our old and outdated electrical items are well worth selling since they are not necessarily useless, just a bit old. Old mobile phones are always sell-able as many of the leading name makes really keep their value. But don’t stop there – have you considered what else is cluttering up your drawers? Consider hair straighteners, sound systems, small kitchen appliances, laptops and digital cameras. All of these items could be sold for a bit of extra cash.
Home entertainment libraries
Don’t just stop at old electrical equipment, however. You can make money on a number of other items including smaller items like DVD’s, CD’s, consoles and games. There’s no denying that the majority of us now buy our entertainment such as music, games and films via digital download which are easily played or viewed on smartphones, tablets or home computers. Because of this, physical copies of DVD’s and CD’s aren’t used quite as much anymore. If this is the case in your house you will probably have plenty of entertainment just sitting in a draw or cupboard gathering dust. DVD’s, CD’s, video games and even consoles, controllers and gaming accessories can now easily be sold to free up space in your home.
Clothing: from kids’ to vintage
Before you start to sell stuff online why not take a look through your wardrobe too? Children’s clothes and equipment is only used for a small amount of time and usually remains in good condition, just simply out grown and perfect for selling on. Likewise, you might have old unwanted clothes and/or accessories like handbags and shoes that can also be worth selling.
Items like this are especially valuable if they come from designer labels or are classic vintage pieces. Even old wedding gowns or bridesmaid dresses which are simply gathering dust in the back of the wardrobe are much sought after items. You’d be pleasantly surprised to see the kind of money you can make with cherished, vintage clothing.
