As sectors become increasingly competitive, it’s making it extremely difficult for organisations to recruit top talent to fill their roles.     Be digitally innovative with your approach

    In the millennial era, it’s less likely modern workers will be looking at advertisements in the newspaper for job searching. Instead, they’ll be using recruitment apps and online services to see what roles are out there. This is where businesses have needed to be unique with their approach as many other businesses are likely to do the same.

    One company that took an interesting approach in finding top talent is Riverbed, a technology firm that got new engineers and developers to come to them, rather than the other way around. They promoted events such as hackathons and programming challenges to get people to attend and try them out. Not only were they able to see what talent was available but it also helped to increase their brand awareness and get their name out there.

    Ensure they’re aware of job perks

    Businesses are becoming more modern as they look to advance their technology by introducing video calls and remote working. Because of this, organisations are now needing to provide alternative perks to attract job seekers to their business. This is where you need to be asking yourself, what is it you can provide the candidate in comparison to your competitors? What can you include in your compensation package? What does the candidate enjoy?

    Whether it’s going to the races annually or providing a company work phone, you need to make the candidates aware of the benefits they could receive from joining you. Therefore, ensure that the perks to the job are advertised on your job placement. 

    Provide the opportunity to learn more

    Some candidates strive to grow in their role and learn from their experiences at their job. This is where offering to pay for professional certifications can be a bonus. For example, corporate solicitor firms will offer additional training for other aspects of law which can be a great benefit of many of the lawyers as they look to grow their expertise.

    Not only does this help employees to increase their knowledge and skills, but it can also encourage them to commit to their roles. High employee retention can reap many rewards for businesses in the short and long term.

    Have a strong digital presence

    On average, it’s estimated the average person spends around 3 hours per day on their phone. Considering the average time a person is awake during the day is about 16 hours, this means around ⅕ of our time is spent on our phones every day. This provides a prime opportunity for businesses to connect with potential candidates as they seek new employees in the market. Managing your company’s digital presence through your social media account is key to doing this. 

    Ensure that your posts are engaging and easily readable. Most important of all, provide a call to action for users to apply for your job role. You also need to make sure that you engage with any users that respond to the ads or have any questions about the post that you make. 

    Keep job satisfaction

    Keeping employees happy and satisfied with their current role is essential to them sticking around and performing well for the business. As a result, you could see your employees turning into recruiters without them even knowing it! If they’re satisfied with their current role, they may suggest the business to other talents who are their close friends. So, understand methods to increase job satisfaction and keep your employees happy for the long term.
