Five Ways to Promote Teamwork in the Workplace

If you’ve ever worked alongside people whom you consider family, then you know how nice it is going into the office each day.  When your team is ‘in the zone’ it can enhance workplace productivity and fulfill you on both a personal and professional level.  Here are five ways to promote camaraderie in the workplace.

    Leadership:

Teamwork begins at the top with the help of a leader.  Leaders should guide by example and always encourage their team to do their best.  This person should always make themselves available to problem solve, brainstorm and address any concerns the team may incur.

    Communication:

Open communication is at the core of every successful operation.  A workplace where teams communicate well and frequently, and are not afraid to share their thoughts and opinions, are more likely to reach company goals and remain loyal.  For example, leaders like Sam Mizrahi Toronto makes it a point to engage in with his team each day, making sure they have the guidance and tools they need to get the job done.  Sam Mizrahi is the founder and president of Mizrahi Developments which specializes in building custom, high-end condominiums.

    Team Building Activities:

Team building exercises can be a great way to encourage camaraderie among employees and teach them trust-building techniques.  Before settling on a group building exercise, it’s important to evaluate what difficulties your group may be experiencing. You may want to choose exercises that will specifically address each of these circumstances.

    Set rules:

Rules don’t need to be a dampener; however guidelines need to exist to keep everybody on the same page. Building up standards from the get-go is ideal, but they can also be adapted from time to time as the group sees fit.   Leaders need to present the rules in a straightforward manner so that everyone comprehends them and can request feedback.

    Reward:

Employees who feel they are valued are fulfilled employees. Furthermore, fulfilled employees are more likely to perform better at their jobs, and are also more likely to stay on for the long haul.
