How to Install the Bluetooth Headset onto the Motorcycle Helmet

To understand how to install the headset onto the helmet correctly, you must follow the instructions right to allow a greater listening experience possible. If you have a headset and struggle to install onto your helmet, you should follow the instruction below:

Things you need:

  • A motorcycle helmet (a full face or modular would be preferable)
  • A Bluetooth headset
  • A pencil or a pen
  • Some screws
  • A cordless drill
  • A clean cloth
  • An alcohol
  • A craft knife

Method:

  1. Inspect the inner liner of your helmet

The first thing you have to do is to inspect the inner liner of your helmet. This will give you an idea of the thickness and the location of the speakers to allow you a great listening experience. The speakers have to be near the ears to reach the clear sound for communication and music. Some helmets have thicker inner liners than the others in which you have to check the liner for extra space.

Note: If you have other helmet types, you do not need to follow this procedure. All you have to do is to use the Velcro stickers or any mount and stick them outside your helmet. For further instructions, click on this link.

  1. Outline the area you want to cut out the liner

Once you have found the space on your liner, use a pencil or a pen to trace the area you want to cut out. This will help you to install the Bluetooth headset onto the helmet and to cut it out easily.

  1. Cut out the foam

Use a craft knife or a knife and cut out the foam where you have traced. This cutting out should work well once you have found the place to position the speaker. During the cutting process, do take care not to cut out the foam too much as you need the foam for head protection. Be sure you cut out the foam around the ears.

  1. Clean the ear pockets

Next, clean the ear pockets with a clean cloth and rub them with alcohol. This will help you to prepare the space for mounting the speakers.

  1. Mount the speaker onto the liner

Open the headset packet, peel the paper back out of the Velcro, and press the Velcro onto that certain space. Be sure the Velcro sticks well and adheres to the microphone.

  1. Position microphone and amplifier

At the side of the helmet, position the microphone and the amplifier to preserve the Bluetooth headset. You must mount to that certain position where the microphone should align to the wearer’s mouth. You can indicate the area with the help of a pencil.

  1. Drill hole for retaining the clamp

Once you have found the position for the microphone and the amplifier, drill some holes to add the remaining screws. You can use a cordless drill and make an appropriately sized drill to install the headset with the right holes.

  1. Install the microphone

Make the drill at the side of the helmet to keep the microphone and the amplifier to the side. Enter the screws and apply the nuts to tighten the little bolts. This helps to prevent the microphone from moving.

  1. Press wires into the liner

After you have installed the microphone and amplifier, be sure you install the amplifier well. The important thing you have to do is to check that the wires are hidden and secured. If the wires do not hide well, just take a wooden tool and press the wires onto the lining to ensure it stays in place.

  1.  Position the boom and test

Add the boom mic with the helmet and test the Bluetooth helmet with other devices. This will help you to check the pairing process when connecting with other devices. This will determine the group communication riding and the ability to listen to music on the road.
