by Soft2share.com

A large population of all ages is spending their leisure time playing video games and digital entertainment. The world of computer industry consoles forces our eyes to achieve different challenges. With these updated challenges technological entertainment sources, many new hazards also came to our eyesight and many surprising advantages as well.

Most computer games need a long time commitment to end any specific game, thereby forcing the gamer to stay alert and focused on the computer screen during their game time. LEGO night mode and LEGO lights are mentionable in this regard. These games can result in the same problems due to long-term exposure to rays sitting in a dark room. Blurred vision, headaches, and might be nearsightedness can be the severe impact of these games on the human body if frequent short breaks are not applied to relax our eyes.

A significant eye problem that people are facing these days includes Computer Vision Syndrome or CVS. As the name shows, is mainly caused by watching a computer screen with full attention for an extended interval of time without having any significant/relaxing breaks. Other similar signs related to digital gaming, can be eye irritation, blurry vision( long or short-sightedness) and light sensitivity along with neck and shoulder pain due to consistent load on the spinal cord and improper sitting positions in front of these digital screens. All these health issues are the ultimate result of the process through which televisions and computers draw pictures on their screen using high electron-beam pixels.

Following are some steps to reduce the impact of video games on our eyesight.

  • Maintain a perfect posture while playing video games.  The player must be seven to 11 feet from the digital screen with knees at nearly 90-degree angles.
  • The top of the monitor should be at your eye level. It would be best if you do not tilt your head to watch the screen with difficulty.
  • Take short breaks. Most eye specialists suggest taking frequent breaks that must be long enough about 15-30 minutes. While this break, try to look off into the distance to make a relaxing time for your eyes.
  • Do not focus your eyes on particular details of objects that are placed at some long-distance, while resting your eyes.
  • Some optometrists also recommend looking at objects that are faraway located after every 10 minutes, for at least 10 counts at a time, all along with your intense video game session or your computer work.
  • Glare from windows or other light sources can impose more hard work on eyes as compared to normal light. Decrease glare by adjusting the monitor or television setting until it approaches zero glare to lessen the eye-strain risk.
