    Technology has raised the workplace standards. Gone are the days when one project manager was enough to lead a team of 100 people because there were no options apart from it. Now, people are looking forward to evolving in the managerial position as it gives them credibility and improves their financial gains.

    Today the workplace challenges have increased. Now, people aren’t disappointed because of their low salaries graph but also because of the disruptive environment, autocratic leadership, social media and empowering millennials to work. The duty of the project manager isn’t limited to achieve the project goals but also to effectively manage the team and unleashing the creativity out of them.

    And only a manager who has these skills will be able to perform the managerial role well.

    1. Collaborative Leadership

    It’s the most important trait to get the project close to the finish line successfully. You have to make sure your team is involved with not the mind only but also the heart. You need to listen to the ideas, work out the best process, making your team understand the requirements and bringing them all on a uniform platform.

    You don’t need to give instructions only but also lead the project by example. If you show your team the actions, that’s where they are going to believe you more and get involved with you. If you don’t bring your team on a single platform, their attention will be diverted to several other things and your project will be affected as a result.

    • Strong Communication

    When you give your team the power to express their thoughts, that’s when they start owning the project. If you resist their potential, they will also show a limited potential to the project. But thanks to technology. With the availability of modern tools like Whatsapp, Skype, Slack or Facebook Messenger.

    When the flow of information is clear, things will become attainable especially when the team is huge. If there’s ambiguity left due to lack of communication then the project can suffer. So, being the higher authority your role is to empower your team to speak and avoid the conflicts so you can allow them to focus on work.

    • Use of Technology

    The right project manager will never resist the latest technologies and tools to upgrade their working style. When there arefree task management software like TaskQue, why would one waste time doing things manually?

    The productivity tools are meant to automate the mundane work and the managers who leverage them for the projects stay on top of their performance and save their valuable time. They are tech-savvy and stay up to date with the tools that can help their working. They are easy to adopt change and don’t fret the technological waves.

    • Focus

    There’s so much clutter in the digital age today that you can easily get distracted and lose your focus. To make your job successful, you need to focus on one thing and move in one direction and avoid distractions. 

    This is a valuable trait that all the managers don’t possess. In the era of social media, it’s easy to get distracted by different strategies and mediums that can interfere your working and delay the project. So, a good manager always focuses on one project until they achieve it successfully. And once it’s done, they move towards the next thing.

    • Accountability

    A credible manager knows he is answerable to his upper management and to the clients and the team. So, he works with responsibility in order to avoid any mishappening. They also work on the culture of accountability so the employees can also learn. 

    They feel confident to share ideas with their team and resolve their issues to build a productive environment within the team.

    Therefore, if you’re looking for a managerial role, you should work to develop these traits coupled with the project management methodologies, so you can become an exemplary role model for others.

    If you have these traits you’ll make a groundbreaking success with your projects. Now, when you the secret weapon to top the managerial position, how about practicing these traits?
