Few things are as frustrating as waiting for a slow charging Samsung Galaxy to juice up its battery completely. If your Galaxy is taking an extremely long time to fully charge, there are some things you can do to try to fix the problem.

Give Your USB Cable a Glance

Before you try any of the solutions we are about to suggest, check on your charging cable. Make sure it is clean – you can test the USB on another phone to determine if the charger is causing the problem. If the cable is working fine, then read the following tips to avoid slow charging in Samsung Galaxy phones.

    Check Your Adapter

Your issue might also be due to a broken power adapter. See if this is the case by looking at your device screen. If there is a message that says “fast charging is enabled,” your power adapter is working properly. If you don’t see the message, think about replacing the adapter.

Take a Look at the Charging Port

If you’ve used your charger for a little while, debris or dirt might be stuck inside your charging port, blocking the connectors. Grab a toothpick and clean up the dust. Make sure you do not damage your charging port by using a flashlight and using gentle, slow motions.

    Try Wiping the Cache Partition

This clears various parts of your phone storage without deleting any personal data. To clean the cache partition:

    •  Turn off your Samsung, press the power key, home key and volume up button simultaneously.
    • When your phone begins to vibrate, release the power key but keep pressing the home key and volume up key.
    • You will see an Android System Recovery Screen. Release both keys, highlight “wipe cache partition” and press the volume down key.
    • Select by pressing the power key and you have wiped the cache.
    • Highlight “reboot system now” and restart your Samsung.

    Install Greenify

Greenify is an app that you can get from the Play Store. It “hibernates” your other apps when you are not using them, preventing them from leeching off of your battery.

You can also look into Battery Booster Lite – It tunes your battery, giving you full control of your CPU and battery. It will also show you what is draining your battery and will tell you how to fix it.

Close Those Apps that are Running in the Background

Apps running in the background of your phone can cause your battery to charge slowly. To close these pesky apps:

    • Press the home button. When you see the “recently used apps screen,” release it.
    • You’ll find the task manager button at the button. Press it, then select “end all applications.”
    • On the top of the screen, you will find the option to clear your RAM memory.

This will effectively close all of the apps running as background processes while your phone is charging.

    Play it Safe

“Safe mode” lets you turn on your Samsung while your third party apps are disabled. You can boot into safe mode and uninstall apps that might be sucking your battery dry. To get to safe mode:

    • Turn off your phone.
    • Hold the power key
    • When you see “Samsung” on the screen, press the volume down key while releasing the power key.
    • Keep on holding down the volume key until your phone restarts.
    • At the bottom of the screen, you’ll see the words “safe mode.”
    • If your phone is charging quickly when you are in safe mode, one of your apps is the culprit.
    • If this is the case, uninstall the apps you believe are draining your battery.

    Master Your Own Domain

“Master reset” deletes data from Samsung’s internal storage, while data on your SD and SIM remains.

    • Backup all of your data onto your external storage.
    • Press the menu key, head to settings, accounts, backup and reset.
    • If you’d like you can do a factory data reset by selecting “Automatic restore and backup my data” then factory reset, reset device.
    • Input your password, then press continue, then delete all.

    Tune Up Your Battery

When your Android battery dies or even gets low regularly, your battery’s life can suffer. You can re-calibrate your Android by:

    • Remove the battery
    • Plug your phone into the original charger without the battery
    • Leave it plugged in for a half our
    • Insert the battery without removing the charger
    • Allow the phone to charge to full capacity.
    • Remove the charger when your battery is full.
    • Allow your phone battery to discharge by draining it to 0%.

Do this three times, and the battery will perform more efficiently.

System Dump – It’s Not You, It’s Me.

    To perform a system dump:

    • Select “dialer”
    • Type “#9900#
    • Select “low battery dump”
    • Select “turn on”

We hope these solutions got to the bottom of your problem and you are well on your way to a fully charged phone. If nothing has done the trick, consider bringing your phone to an Android repair shop. Professionals can fix your phone so you don’t have to deal with the inconvenience of a slow charge.
