Photography is a wide field of activity with various levels of expertise – from beginners to brilliant ones. If you are just starting out, you can take advantage of the knowledge accumulated by specialists over the years, learning and improving your skills.
We specifically talked with several serious professional photographers who were happy to give a couple of important tips. Use them!
Hold the camera closer: many amateur photographers hold the camera in their outstretched arms, far from their faces. This can completely destabilize your entire posture and reduce image sharpness. Do not move away, keep the camera close to you, maintaining maximum stability.
Use the timer: For an untrained hand, pressing the button for a shot can create uncontrolled and unwanted vibrations that can lead to blurry photos. If you use a timer, you have a few seconds to restore stability after pressing.
Use the flash during the day: It may seem strange, but it works. Flash photography in sunlight helps the camera cope with unexpected natural light coming in a not-so-good location with respect to the subject. This will work especially well if you are shooting against bright light.
Take a step forward: Want to enlarge the picture? Try to get closer. Magnification is a great feature (especially if you have a professional lens, which most beginners do not have), but you probably noticed that it slightly reduces the quality. Having taken a couple of steps forward, you will reduce the necessary distance and get rid of possible defects in the pictures.
Try taking pictures from different angles and positions: Don’t get used to taking pictures in the same position. Be flexible, experiment at different angles. You do not know which image will be the most successful. The movement will teach you the strengths and weaknesses of certain positions for shooting.
Learn to edit photos: This is not considered craftiness. The best photographers in the world use various techniques to improve their work. Using various editors, you will achieve better results, and also learn to understand more about concepts such as contrast, color, light and other important elements of photography. Use a memory card (card reader): Do not use a USB cable like the rest. Buy yourself a card reader to transfer photos from the device to the computer at normal speed and without problems. Any serious photographer who has ever used transferring pictures via a USB cable knows how frustrating this can be. This is a very small waste, but it will definitely save you a lot of time.
Do not delete pictures from the camera: No matter how unsuccessful the picture appears on the tiny screen of your camera, be patient and wait until you consider it in normal resolution before making a hasty decision. Even if the image is unsuccessful, having examined it, you can learn to avoid mistakes in the future.
Just shoot! Do not think too much, do not hesitate and save time. Just shoot as much as you can. You will learn by experimenting and gain confidence by practicing.
