- Happy baby pose: The baby may be practicing this pose without realizing that it is a baby yoga exercise. For this pose, have the baby lie on the back while legs are in the air. If the baby is able to hold the feet and sway them back and forth. If not, don’t worry. You can help them do the same. Gently, hold on to the feet with knees bent. Open them wide to ease the stretch. It is a fun and great way to open up the hip muscles and regulate digestion.
- Butterfly twist pose: Place the baby on the back and make sure, the feet’s sole is in the air making the shape of butterfly’s wings. Now, tenderly press the baby’s feet towards the stomach and support baby’s arms to open to the sides. Hold on to the baby’s feet in the same shape and gently, twist the legs from side to side. If the baby can’t keep the arms calm, place your hand on the chest and try to communicate with the baby in a soothing tone. Such poses help the baby to relax and promote sound sleep. - Tummy time: Put a play mat or blanket on the floor and have the baby lie on the tummy. The baby may struggle to lift the head if, around 2 months old; even then, it will help them strengthen head and neck muscles. This exercise is also helpful in enhancing motor skills.
- Football hold: Hold the baby while under your arm and make sure the baby is gazing downward. Be alert that your hand is supporting the baby’s tummy as well as the chest. While looking downward, the baby is able to strengthen muscles in the neck.
- Put baby on your chest: Lie down on your back and place the baby on your chest. As the baby gaze at you, it will strengthen back and neck muscles. You can also keep a few toys around in the nearby area at distant. Let the baby gaze at each of the toys, it will benefit the vision.
