Creating a business is a litmus test that does not always pass successfully even by doing everything that must be done and following the steps. There are a thousand and one details that can make a project not survive and that taking into account the failure rates in the first year and before 5 years of life. Having a business mentor will help you increase your chances of success.

It would be normal not to be able to create a successful project if we look at the statistics:

  • Between 50% and 75% of businesses do not reach the year
  • 80% of businesses fail before 3 years
  • 90% of businesses do not reach 10 years.

On the other hand, different studies indicate that 70% of businesses that have a mentor survive twice as long as those that do not have a mentor. Also, the most successful startups have had a mentor.

And the reasons why there is importance of a having a Business Mentor when starting up are:

A Mentor has a broader vision than you:

A mentor understands the process of success in the field where he advises you much better than you. Understand the processes, the policy and the impact of decisions on the organization and its environment, so it can guide you in a better way because it can see the whole picture.

A Mentor has more knowledge than you:

A mentor has walked the road before you. Consequently, it will save you time and money by helping you accelerate your learning curve and minimizing your chance of making serious mistakes. Because it has failed in the past, it is a great source of information about what to do and what not to do.

A Mentor demands you Accounts:

One of the disciplines that can help you most succeed is accountability. A good mentor will demand accounts. Good mentors do not waste time, so if they feel that you are not executing the conversation and are not committed to your success, they simply do not continue to advise you.

A Mentor has more connections than you:

Connections are keys to success in any area that involves interaction with the human being. The connections that your mentor has formed for years can be of great benefit to open doors for you at key moments.

A Mentor can become one of your best friends:

A good mentor wants and fights because you succeed. The relationships that are formed during the day become one of the deepest relationships in your life that I am sure you will value more than success itself. You will remember me at that moment. As I mentioned before, getting a mentor is not an easy task, in fact there are two areas of my life that I haven’t gotten a mentor yet. I have used books, blogs, podcasts and conferences to replace that fault in but it is never the same as having a mentor. It’s hard to get it but it’s worth it.
