In this era where everything is stuck on the basis of energy we humans are fighting to make choice between biomass and natural gas. Both are rich source of energy and both have their advantages and disadvantages but when it comes to making a choice then you may find biomass with an upper hand. As we all know the Electricity Rates in Ontario are higher than any place else in Canada, having risen four times as fast as the inflation rate since 2006.
Natural Gas:
Natural gas is a rich source of energy and one of the main fossil fuel we have been using now a days. We are using natural gas for cooking, heating and electricity purposes and because it is available abundantly and is ECO friendly to an extent we have give it a space in our day to day Life. This is formed by the decomposition of animals and plants under the soil at a pressure and temperature and is basically a compound gas whose main content is methane gas.
Biomass:
Biomass is also a rich source of energy. It is raw organic material that can be processed to generate electrical energy, chemical energy, and heat energy. This source of energy is totally renewable and is abundant in nature. You can easily use it and using it not only gives you the energy supply but also make sure that it is eco friendly.
Biomass vs. Natural Gas:
Natural gas though available in abundant but is not that much of available as biomass is. You can observe yourself that the energy produced by the biomass sources is clean and causes less pollution to the environment and cause less harm to human beings.
Though natural gas have it’s own advantages like storage and usage but when compared to biomass, biomass rules. Biomass when burnt also throws carbon-dioxide just like natural gas but this carbon-dioxide is absorb-able by plants and thus less harmful as compared to natural gas. When natural gas is burnt and used as source of energy the residue left and emitted is harmful for both humans and environment. Biomass is made by organic sources thus it can be made over and over again unlike natural gas which will end at some time.
Carbon neutrality is one of the main reason biomass is better than natural gas. The residuals left by burning natural gas ends up harming the environment in ways but on the other hand biomass residual are also usable.
Biomass is available everywhere in the world and can be formed at any time. All you need to do is use organic products to manufacture it unlike natural gas which we need to dig out of the earth. No country lacks biomass in today’s time but there are places where you might find that there is no sign of availability of natural gas.
Biomass is available at low cost and it’s production also costs a way lot less as compared to natural gas. It just need the organic material to be collected at a place or a big tanker and the gas emitted by it is collected and thus bio-gas is formed. Natural gas needs to be dig out which costs a lot.
Thus we can come to the conclusion that biomass is better than natural gas or any other fossil fuel.
