What is the situation anxiety?
A state of anxiety occurs when an individual feels a sense of fear or insecurity regarding his job and financial position. People with anxiety may feel that others are looking at them or feel less than others as a result of their background. This is the case for those who may be financially poor and feel shame and shame about their situation and judge them or judge themselves as failures and even as bad people as a result of their low income.
Why is this happening?
The simplest explanation for why people suffer from anxiety is that many of us feel that others tend to be prettier for those who have a higher status and a higher financial position. This is especially prevalent in capitalist cultures, like ours, where there is a great focus on what others do for a living and how this people defines us. The prevalence of state anxiety in our society is something that has been identified and mainly documented by the Swiss philosopher and TV presenter, Alain de Botton. De Botton notes that interest in others increases or decreases, however misleading or unproductive, depending on their profession and status. Anxiety is an increasing problem in our society, as it appears that the number of ways in which an individual can achieve a “state” is growing indefinitely over time. There are many stories in magazines, newspapers, and documentaries that have been “made” one way or another and for those of us who have not “made it” and compare ourselves to those who are supposed to be still, anxiety about the situation continues to increase as we feel more than ever that we have failed and that others or Judging us for this.
why does it matter?
Although feeling insecure about your condition in life may not seem dangerous, de Beauton mentioned that worrying about the situation may be more devastating than many may realize. This is because it drives people, who may not appear to be in accordance with the standards of society to gain a high profile, to believe that all their wonderful and wonderful qualities are absolutely worthless without obtaining the impressive title of work to accompany them. This causes people to neglect their well-being in order to pursue goals that cannot be achieved and which may not ultimately help their anxiety about their status once they reach a goal. They simply compare themselves to the next individual with the highest condition of them.
What can we do about this?
The first step to overcoming state anxiety is to realize that you are facing and that you may judge others based on their situation in return. De Botton states that the cure for everyone involved is to remove yourself from the case game together. This includes ensuring that you are not involved in the judgment based on someone else’s situation, focusing on the people around you and seeing that your attributes are outside of your profession or financial condition and take time to understand and know you as a person. De Botton highlights that once you realize your potential as a human being, you will in turn find it easier to trust in yourself, try you, make mistakes, and achieve your goals without feeling valued in the process.

In order to further dismantle this matter, there are a number of “step-by-step” guides that can be found online and that determine how you can break free from anxiety by abandoning societal measures and comparisons. In essence, this evidence highlights the importance of realizing that more money will not translate into more happiness and will not make you a better person. Instead, it is important to focus on your core values, life goals and core happiness. Here are some examples, written by Lee Stevens, of ways in which you can refocus your energy and create a happier life that not only depends on your income for validation:
- The practice of humility
It is difficult to achieve humility, but reminding you of humility on a daily basis will remind you that you do not wish to be judged on the basis of your wealth and you should not judge others in this way.
- Engage in mindfulness
Take the time to examine your core values and ask yourself what you believe in and what it means for you to do it right in order to start looking at the value of monetary wealth.
- He contributed with us
Reformulate your way of life in a way that stops comparing yourself to others but instead, engages in meaningful social interaction in which you share experience and knowledge rather than engage in comparison.
- Enjoy life, not “things”
Experience is something that cannot be bought. Cannot put a price, memories and experience. Enjoying life with your family and friends is invaluable and will make you happier than ever.
